Learn About Biomimicry and Engineering Design
This is a no-cost online program that seeks to build capacity and STEM identity in K-1 students around exciting hands-on curricula grounded in community environmental issues. This program is sponsored by CSMP and brings together UCI faculty and students from the science and engineering departments, informal educators from local non-profit organizations, and teacher leaders to support STEM in elementary levels.
Este es un programa no tiene costo ya que busca construir capacidad e identidad STEM en los estudiantes de k-1 a través de un currículum con actividades interactivas acerca de los problemas ambientales en la comunidad. Este programa es patrocinado por CSMP y une a la facultad y estudiantes de UCI en los departamentos de ciencia e ingeniería, educadores informales de organizaciones locales no lucrativas, y profesores líderes que apoyan STEM al nivel de elementary.

Calling pre-kinder, kinder, and first graders who love science and engineering!
Join the UCI Science Project YES program as young engineers and scientists! This is a FREE virtual 1-week after school program in collaboration with Aquarium of the Pacific and UCI school of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Come and learn through exciting and meaningful hands-on experiences from classroom teachers, informal educators at the aquarium, researchers and scientists at UCI.

¡Unanse al YES Program de UCI Science Project para jóvenes ingenieros y científicos! Este es un programa virtual GRATIS de uno semanas en colaboración con el Acuario del Pacifico y la escuela de Ingeniería Civil y Ambiental de UCI. Atiendan y aprendan a través de actividades interactivas divertidas con profesores de clase, educadores informales del acuario, investigadores y científicos en UCI.

Program Details & Cohort Schedule
We will host 2 cohorts of 10 students who will learn from our wonderful team of teachers, scientists, and researchers. All students in the program will be provided with books, materials, and resources needed to participate!
This program is for students in Riverside, Orange County, Long Beach, and Los Angeles counties. Please note that priority registration is given to students on free/reduced lunch from Title 1 schools.
Program Schedule: Monday-Friday, 4-5pm PST
Este evento temático es para estudiantes de los grados kinder y primero que quieren aprender sobre el biomimetismo (diseños de ciencia e ingeniería inspirados en la naturaleza) para resolver problemas del día a día!
Vamos a conducir 2 grupos de 10 estudiantes, que aprenderán mediante nuestro increíble equipo de educadores, científicos e investigadores. Todos los estudiantes en el programa serán proveídos libros, materiales y recursos necesarios para poder participar!
Este programa es para los estudiantes de los condados de Riverside, Orange, Long Beach y Los Ángeles. Por favor tenga en cuenta que se le dará prioridad a los estudiantes que reciben almuerzo gratis/reducido en escuelas Title 1.

Spaces are limited and priority will be given to students on free/reduced lunch from Title 1 schools.

We are currently not accepting registration for this program. Please check back in the 2023 school year.
*All guest teachers will receive a $200 stipend for their time and commitment.
